Volunteer education, training and funding programs
The Office for Recreation
and Sport provide numerous training and education programs
for volunteers as well as funding for eligible organisations
or individuals. In addition there are many other organisations
who provide funding and training opportunities to volunteers
and volunteer organisations.
Volunteer Management
Program (VMP)
The aim of the VMP is to develop excellence in volunteer management
policies and practices in sport and recreation organisations.
This program adopts a human resource approach to volunteer
management and encourages sport and recreation organisations
to take a strategic perspective in managing their volunteers.
The program focuses on good practice across a range of volunteer
management issues that enhances the value of volunteers in
a range of important areas in sport and recreation organisations.
The program provides both training and resource
booklets on the following volunteer management topics:
- Recruiting volunteers
- Retaining volunteers
- Managing event volunteers
- Volunteer management policy
- The volunteer coordinator
- Volunteer management: a guide to good practice

Volunteer management courses are co-ordinated
through the Office for Recreation and Sport and delivered
in regional and metropolitan areas. Local Government, clubs
and associations can book training on any of the modules for
a fee.

Active Club Grants:
The Active Club program provides assistance to eligible South
Australian sport and active recreation organisations. Why

The Office for Volunteers offers a singular, small grants
program for community organisations to assist in implementing
volunteer programs for the ongoing benefit of the community.
