Mature Age Physical Activity Network
The Mature Age Physical Activity Network, a recommendation
of the Mature Age be active Forum 2003, has been
established by the ORS. The Network consists of organisations
that have an interest in mature age physical activity. The
Network is email based, providing a means of sharing information
regarding ongoing developments, related news and opportunities
for collaborative partnerships, funding and professional development.
An annual Networking Forum is conducted for
members of the Network.

'Targeting Mature Age Participants Publication'
And Related Workshop
This publication was funded by the ORS and written in partnership
with Active Ageing SA. It has been produced for organisations
that cater for the rapidly expanding Over 50’s market.
Targeting Mature Age Participants is
designed to assist organisations understand the needs of mature
age people, offering suggestions to address the needs of mature
aged people within a sport and recreation context. This resource
provides marketing based advice on planning, promotion and
maintenance of programs and offers references for accessing
the many resources and sources of expertise that are available.
Case studies have also been included to provide real life
examples of how to apply some of the principles contained
within this resource.

Workshops based on this resource are available
by negotiation.
Performance Enhancement for Mature Age
And Masters Participants
This course, developed by the Centre
for Physical Activity in Ageing, is designed for
coaches interested in working with older athletes and for
the mature aged and Masters participant who wants to gain
an understanding of how to improve their own performance.
The course provides an overview of the physical
changes that occur as the body ages and the implications and
considerations of this in relation to enhancing physical performance.
Training suggestions and practical coaching hints are presented.
Participants will gain an understanding of psychosocial considerations
and an insight into the varying motivations of older athletes.
