Online Beginning Coaching General Principles Course (Level 1)

The Australian Sports Commission has released a new online course for beginner coaches.  The Beginning Coaching General Principles online course has been developed to assist coaches to learn the basic skills of coaching.  The online course is initially available free of charge to Australian coaches (must have an Australian postal address).

The course contains five modules, which cover a range of general coaching topics.  The course takes approximately 6 hours to complete, and there is assessment included within the course. Coaches have 6 months to complete the course after they register.

Online Introductory Level Officiating

The Australian Sports Commission has developed an online course for beginner officials to assist them to improve their basic officiating skills.

The course contains 3 modules:

  1. Self Management
  2. Managing the Competition Environment
  3. People Management

It generally takes 4 hours to complete with an assessment at the end of each module.

The online courses are available from the Australian Sports Commission’s online learning portal – https://learning.ausport.gov.au

Intermediate Coaching General Principles Course

The Intermediate Coaching General Principles Course is an integral part of the coaching accreditation in most sports, complimenting the sports specific provided by the National Sporting Organisations.  Both the General Principles course as well as the sports specific component must be completed to achieve accreditation under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS).

The Intermediate Coaching General Principles are a series of educational modules for coaches who want to improve their skills and knowledge.  From 2008, the Intermediate Coaching General Principles program replaces the former Level 2 Coaching General Principles.

In addition to the face-to-face course attendance, coaches can also undertake the Intermediate Coaching General Principles course via correspondence.  See the course registration form above in the training calendar for further information.

What is Play be the Rules?
Play by the Rules provides information on how to prevent and deal with inappropriate behaviour including discrimination, harassment, favouritism, bias and various forms of abuse.
