Coaches - Become a coach

Where do I go?
Contact your State Sporting Organisation and ask what opportunities are currently available
Go to your local club/school and offer your services

How do I become accredited?
If you want to become an accredited coach you need to complete a National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) course. These courses offer training for coaches from beginner through to advanced level. Contact your State Sporting Organisation for the latest information on coaching courses and training programs available for your sport.

Please note: on completion of the coaching principles component you must complete the sports specific and coaching practice component of the NCAS before gaining accreditation.

What is the benefit of being an accredited coach?
Accreditation will help you be more effective by increasing your knowledge of the basic skills, tactics, rules, equipment and other requirements of the sport. If you have been involved in coaching or teaching previously, you will find that generic coaching skills such as communication, group management, teaching and planning are usually transferable between a range of sports.

Through accreditation you will gain the credibility you deserve and participants will be more confident in the knowledge that a qualified coach is instructing them.
