PROGRAM
OVERVIEW
The South Australian Sports Institute Volleyball program is an integrated program delivered as a partnership between the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI), Volleyball Australia (VA) and Volleyball South Australia (VSA).
There are 4 Fundamental Principles which guide the effective delivery of the program:
- Develop future Olympic Medalists
- Find and develop talented South Australian athletes with the potential to one day represent Australia and win medals at the Olympic Games
- Support our future stars to realise their potential by managing their sport/life balance and the demands of being an aspiring elite athlete. This will include:
- Determining what is best for the Athlete to achieve his/her objectives, and
- Communication with all key participants in the athletes' development
- Enhancing the development of targeted athletes through exposure to high-quality training and competition opportunities in both disciplines of our sport
- Seasonal alignment with AVF
- Indoor, April -September
- Beach, October-March
- Athletes and Coaches part of integrated pathway
- Athletes specialise once they graduate to senior programs
- Build networks with people and organisations who can assist South Australian athletes and the SASI Volleyball Program to achieve their goals – Success at the Olympic games! Key partners to the program/process include:

SASI Graduates: Past SASI Scholarship holders who are current AIS Scholarship holders retain their status as SASI Graduates.
All squads (except Talent Search) have a strong emphasis on Strength & Conditioning. Squads also extensively utilise SASI Sports Science specialists in the areas of Physiology, Performance Analysis, Psychology, Biomechanics and Athlete Career & Education services. Additionally, SASI Volleyball has a dedicated Sports Medical team of highly skilled and experienced Doctors and Physiotherapists.

All eligible Development athletes are required to represent SA at Australian Indoor and Beach National Championships
All athletes are coached and prepared to succeed at an International level of competition.
Generating, sustaining and evolving a positive, dynamic and integrated Big Team culture is central to the Program's success.
