Sport Science - Physiology

The SASI Physiology Department is responsible for assessing the physiological demands of training and competition. Sport Physiologists accurately quantify and evaluate the acute responses and chronic adaptations to training and provide, in consultation with the coach and athlete, training recommendations to maximise performance potential. Physiological testing takes place in the controlled environment of the laboratory and in the field during daily training or at competition.

The SASI Physiology Laboratory is accredited by the Australian Sports Commission’s National Sport Science Quality Assurance (NSSQA) Program, as a high performance testing facility in the key areas of :

  • Anthropometry
  • Field-testing
  • Oxygen consumption
  • Ergometry
  • Blood analysis
