The Office for Recreation and Sport is committed
to increasing the quality and level of participation of all
South Australians in active recreation and sport. An important
aim of the Recreation and Sport Development Division is supporting
policies and programs focussed on the needs of children and
youth.
Designated Officers support young people who
wish to participate in formal settings such as schools and
community clubs. Support is also provided to those who work
with young people in these environments. Junior coaching programs
and leadership training services are available along with
reference services assisting individuals and groups to link
with appropriate and supportive networks at a state and local
level.
Officers work closely with other agencies such
as the Australian
Sports Commission, Department
of Education and Children's Services, Australian
Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation
(ACHPER) and State Sporting Organisations to promote the importance
of making sport and recreation not only challenging but a
positive and fun activity for young South Australians.
