PlayTime - Can your organisation help get children active?
The Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS) is seeking to engage community organisations to deliver its new physical play program for children aged 0-5.

be active PlayTime recognises the early years of life as a vitally important time in children’s development. It also acknowledges the crucial role that early childhood educators and carers play in facilitating children’s learning and development.

be active PlayTime directly targets children and parents, and provides an opportunity to deliver activities in a range of environments i.e. playgroups, community events, community centres, kindergartens, childcare centres, etc.

be active PlayTime aims to:

  • Educate parents on the benefits of being physically active from an early age;
  • Demonstrate physical play and physical activities parents can do with their children from an early age;
  • Demonstrate inexpensive and everyday home resources that can be used as equipment to enhance activities and play.

The ORS is seeking suitable organisations to be key delivery agencies for the be active PlayTime curriculum. Community organisations with established networks involving young families are invited to support the ORS to deliver the key messages of be active PlayTime in an ongoing manner.

Sections of the DRAFT PlayTime Curriculum is available for review prior to making a submission by phoning 08 8416 6677.
